A New Day for Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan is entering a new era in its history, and the changes that occur at this time will have a more dramatic effect than at any other time previously.
Our attitudes have changed. We are now a “can-do” province full of opportunity and optimism infused with the spirit of entrepreneurship and risk-taking.
|
Saskatchewan has a new confidence that cannot be held back by the divisive politics of the past. |
We must make decisions with future generations in mind, not according to the short- sighted and patronage- based way of making decisions that have become the norm in our government. Saskatchewan’s political history is one of four year decision making… then three, then two, then one. This creates an environment of expediency which results in addressing visible short term symptoms instead of solving problems.
|
Saskatchewan needs a political party with backbone to identify the real problems, their real causes, and the drive to provide real solutions. |
The people of Saskatchewan have an enormous social conscience. We have a moral responsibility to make sure that everyone in this province has access to opportunity.
Our culture of strong self reliance combined with our compassion and innovative problem solving is what makes Saskatchewan a great province. We work hard to succeed but are also quick to come to the aid of our neighbors without the constraints of political philosophy. We focus on what works, left or right wing- it doesn’t matter.
More than ever, our society recognizes the right of people to be who they want to be. We have fewer reservations about race, gender, sexuality, and religion than previous generations. Most importantly, we are highly mobile due to our awareness of the world around us and our ability to access greater levels of education.
Unfortunately, it is also harder and costlier to live our lives. We are facing higher and ever- increasing education and housing costs while inheriting debt from a previous generation.
In order for Saskatchewan to remain prosperous and realize its full potential, we need an economic, social, and political framework to empower us.
|
An economic framework that nurtures and celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit of Saskatchewan’s people. |
|
A social framework providing the freedom to pursue opportunity and the ability to elevate ourselves above our current condition. |
|
A political framework that is open, accountable, and inclusive. |
