Saskatchewan Liberals Wrap Up “Round Our Way” 2009 Summer Tour

Saskatchewan Liberal Leader Ryan Bater has concluded the “Round Our Way” 2009 Summer Tour which saw his team visit 31 communities and travel 5,323 kilometres over the course of six weeks.

“This tour has solidified my belief that there is a serious level of detachment and distaste for politics in Saskatchewan," said Bater. "Most people see the entire process as something off in the distance that does not apply to them, and politicians as self- serving opportunists addicted to a patronage- based system. Nobody is accusing me of being an opportunist, and most people find our approach refreshing and authentic enabling us to have honest and candid conversations.”

Bater and his team travelled Saskatchewan in a motorhome prominently featuring the newly redesigned logo of the Saskatchewan Liberals to help raise profile for the tour. Along with connecting with the people of Saskatchewan while on the road, the “Round Our Way” Summer Tour had an on-line presence (www.saskliberals.ca/tour) where an interactive Google map tracked the tour’s progress along with regular blog posts, twitter updates, and photos from the road.

“The tour was a great opportunity to be able to engage people ‘round their way and hear about the issues they are facing,” said Bater. “One issue we heard about time and time again across the province is concern about the increasing centralization of services which really hurts local communities who are looking to be sustainable. Saskatchewan needs a Liberal voice for local and personal empowerment to fight against the centralized power and mega- project obsessed regime we have now.”
