Ryan Bater

Raised in The Battlefords, Ryan Bater was educated at the University of Saskatchewan where he earned a degree in Business Economics. Following graduation, Ryan made the decision to return to his home community where he was inspired to create and build opportunities for himself and for others right here in Saskatchewan.

Ryan’s career has focused on promoting and assisting the economic development of The Battlefords as the General Manager of the Battlefords Regional Economic Development Authority – a non-profit corporation formed as a partnership by local municipalities, First Nations, and the Province of Saskatchewan. Over the past six years, Ryan has assisted many local people to realize their dreams by starting successful businesses and creating career opportunities in The Battlefords.

Ryan BaterRyan is a strong leader who has led trade missions, lobbied on behalf of The Battlefords, and championed several key socio-economic initiatives. In 2005 he was chosen “Economic Developer of the Year” by the Saskatchewan Economic Developers Association for his contributions to the economy of The Battlefords and Saskatchewan. Ryan has also represented the province as the Co-Chair of the Economic Developers Association of Canada National Conference when it was held in Saskatoon in September 2007. At this conference, Ryan received the prestigious Ec.D. designation of Certified Economic Developer.

During the 2007 provincial election, Ryan was nominated as the Saskatchewan Liberal Party candidate for The Battlefords. In addition to serving as Treasurer for his local constituency association, Ryan has been instrumental in inspiring and motivating our grassroots Saskatchewan Liberals in a series of Liberal renewal workshops held across the province in Spring 2008.

Ryan believes in the values of public service and is an active member of his community through his involvement in a number of local organizations. He has served on the organizing committee for the 2008 Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life in The Battlefords, volunteered and performed with the Battlefords Community Players, and is currently a Director of the North Sask River Water Resource Committee – an organization dedicated to maximizing the socio-economic benefits of the North Saskatchewan River water resource. He is also a former Director of the Saskatchewan Economic Developers Association and the Economic Developers Association of Canada.

Ryan is an annual participant in the Saskatchewan Marathon and enjoys Recreational Hockey in the winter. He is an avid motorcycle enthusiast during the summer months and enjoys playing his favorite Beatles songs on his bass guitar.
